E.C. Liu is the Founding Partner and Managing Member of Faustus Capital LLC, overseeing operations in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Asia.
Graduating with a B.A. from Columbia University and a Master in Architecture degree from Harvard University, Mr. Liu has 30+ years of experience in the real estate industry, specifically in investment analysis and underwriting, property development and re-positioning, construction, financing and architectural design in the US and in Asia.
Mr. Liu has formerly held senior positions with global financial institutions and development companies. While at Och-Ziff Capital Management, Mr. Liu led the group’s real estate investments in emerging Asian markets such as China, the Philippines and Vietnam. Mr. Liu was previously a Vice President in Asia at RREEF, Deutsche Bank’s private equity real estate fund management arm, overseeing development deals, from high-rise residential projects in China to high-end golf resort villa developments in Thailand. As Deputy General Manager for Planning & Development at Shui On Land in Shanghai, Mr. Liu participated in the masterplanning and development of over 33 million square feet of residential, office, retail and hotel projects throughout China, including the flagship Xintiandi project in Shanghai. Previous to that, he was Deputy General Manager for China and Taiwan at Bovis Lend Lease, the global construction firm, overseeing the project management of large mixed-use developments in Shanghai such as Bund Center, and build-to-suit manufacturing facilities for multi-national corporations such as Michelin, Quaker Oats and NCR. Mr. Liu was also partner in Fox & Fowle, Gluckman Liu Associates, an architectural design practice based in New York targeting high-rise design in China; projects completed include the Shanghai headquarters of the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, the world’s largest bank by asset value.
